Some Exciting News Nuggets!

Warhammer Age of Sigmar - Hobby Blog

I’ll get right to the point - if you enjoy my character name generators for Age of Sigmar, then I think you’re in for a treat. Read on to find out more about the big plans that are already underway.

Automated Random Name Generators!

Yep, that’s right - automated random name generators! I’ve been noodling around with JavaScript and (with a lot of help from various online sources and lots of trial and error) I’ve cobbled together a fun little plugin. For those of you who prefer the instant gratification of a single button click over rolling handfuls of dice, this will hopefully be welcome news. Here’s an example that uses the content from my Stormcast Eternals name generator:

GENERATE A STORMCAST ETERNALS NAME

Every name generator I create from now on will have this automated option. And it is just an option - I’ll still be making the ‘analogue’ PDFs. I’ll also be going back and adding automated plugins to all of my previous generators. It takes some time to input the content so this will be a gradual process, but Stormcast Eternals, Kharadron Overlords and Skaven have already been done. If you’re anything like me you’ll spend far too much time playing with these!

More Generators! More Themes! More, More, More!

The addition of automated random name generators is a cool thing in itself, but it also opens up a huge range of new possibilities. Now, the content of two or more name generators can be combined to create an exponentially larger range of even more thematic options.

For example, the next name generator to be posted will be Nurgle Rotbringers. By combining all of its content with that of the existing Skaven name generator, you’ll also be able to generate Clans Pestilens names at the tap of a button! This will be added as an extra option on the existing Skaven page. I’ll be constantly on the lookout for ways to combine existing content to create new options for various sub-factions. Beasts of Chaos dedicated to each of the dark gods springs instantly to mind.

On top of that, I’ve always had plans to create themed name generators for non-faction-specific inhabitants of each of the eight realms. This now takes on an exciting new dimension, since I’ll be able to combine them with all of the faction name generators. So when I put out a generator for say, Aqshy, I’ll also update the automated generator for each faction to include a Realm of Fire option. Want to create an Abhorrant Ghoul King of the Blisterskin Court? You’ll be able to do that rather than choosing the generic option. How about Sylvaneth from Chamon? Soulblight Vampires from Ulgu? So many possibilities!

That’s it for now. Thanks to all of you who’ve encouraged me throughout this project so far - your support means a lot to me. I’ll see you back here again soon for more name generator goodness!
