Space Wolves - Character Name Generator
/Back when I first started making these name generators, about 2 years ago now, I would always end up wanting to start an army for the faction I was working on. For some reason that I can’t quite put my finger on, that effect has diminished somewhat since then, but I really felt it whilst working on this Space Wolves character name generator, and I think I know why.
For one thing, the lore and customs of the Space Wolves are incredibly rich and detailed, even by the standards of their fellow space marine first founding chapters. You can tell that the background writers and novelists that have worked to develop this chapter over the last few decades were very much enthused by their subject matter, and that rubs off. Another factor, for me, is that the Space Wolves are so very different in their organisation and culture that they can’t help but be fascinating - they’re the poster boys for non-codex-compliant loyalist marines.
This brings me neatly to the third factor, which is that the sprawling and flexible nature of the Space Wolves chapter organisation makes it just that little bit more feasible to carve out your own niche with your own army and characters. You can easily imagine your own Space Wolves task force made up of as-yet unheard of heroes operating in some far-flung corner of the galaxy, without treading on existing lore. That kind of thing excites me far more than recreating an already fully-documented company of marines from one of the prominent codex-compliant chapters, knowing that a thousand other hobbyists are playing with essentially the same army and characters whose stories are already told. Also, Space Wolves are just so darn cool!
This name generator is perfect for narrative play in the 41st millennium, whether you're naming your heroes in Warhammer 40,000 or each and every squad member in Kill Team. It’s also great for naming your Space Wolves space marines in the 30K setting of the Horus Heresy. I hope you like it!
If you use the generator and enjoy it, I’d love it if you’d leave a comment below - let me know what names you’ve come up with! And as always, feel free to share it as you see fit.
